Meet the Parents

Bride to be's log.

Date: 13th November 2010.

Gosh, this day, I don't think I would forget for a long time to come.

It was time to meet the parents.

Whose parents you ask. Well, Groom to be's parents of course.

Let's do some quick introductions. There's me, I'm the new blushing bride to be(B2B). There's the boy am going to marry. He's of course the Groom to be(G2B). There's the parents FIL and MIL and of course MYM and MYF.

It's almost 10, they'll be here any minute.

I can't show how flustered and tensed I really am, will they think am not sure and confident about this boy? I've got to pretend to be strong.

OK. Breathe. Phone beeps. SMS. Who is it?

'We're on our way. Be there in 15 min'. YIKES. OK. Be strong. Quick and silent prayer.

'Father, be with us, we trust that you have great plans for us. Let Thy will be done'

Silence. Louder silence. The irony. Phone beeps. SMS. 'We're coming up. 'Gosh. Should I sit, should I stand, Should I smile, be serious?

Why don't they teach these things in colleges/schools?

Everyone gets welcomed and sits wherever they feel.

Close, yet far. Each one more anxious than the next.

Who's going to start the talk and discussion? Not me.

Random talk. Tension rising.

MYF starts. God bless MYF, He always knew and always knows when to say what and where and how. I love MYF! Wanted to give him a big hug for starting.

Oh this and that. That and this. Our family, your family. Our state, Yours. Traditions, customs. Yes? no? ok! Things seems to be going forward. No problem.

So it's all settled then is it? April 30th?

YES! A wedding date? YAY! G2B smiles at me. I smile back.

Well, that wasn't too bad. Wave good bye. Smile. Smile.

Can't stop smiling. It's just happening. Uncontrollably.

Ok. G2B is ok. So am I. Praise God that things went well.

Psalm 127 says, Unless the Lord build the house, the work of the builder is useless.

Amen to that. Now comes the blushing part. Let's tell everyone the good news.

Phone rings. Who is it? Best Friend Forever (BFF).

'EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE' Am getting married! says B2B.

'EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE' Replies BFF. How did it go?

Repeat word for word, the proceedings of the morning. G2B calls. Bid good bye to BFF promising to not leave everything for the last minute and start planning NOW.
